Martin. L. Ludwig, Ph.D.
Dr. Ludwig has 50 years of experience in the private and public sectors as well as in private consulting practice covering a number of disciplines:
- Energy engineering
- Computer engineering
- Strategic planning
- Finance
- Marketing
During his career in general and project management, Dr. Ludwig has been responsible for complex systems with Fortune 500 corporations as well as a number of smaller companies in the energy, computer and semi-conductor industries. He also has substantial experience in the public sector, in computer science and energy management by developing a new paradigm for the energy industry. The design of the Wayne Campus Cogeneration and Renewable Energy Project (WCC & REP) is the first energy system to simultaneously integrate into a single system:
- Energy Efficiency Technologies
- Renewable Energy – Solar, Geo-thermal, Wind
- Natural Gas Cogeneration / District Heating
Dr. Ludwig has a passion for sharing his wealth of information, which caused him to pursue teaching. He accepted the position of Adjunct Professor at William Paterson University, College of Business, where he taught as an adjunct professor, Graduate School for about 15 years.
In light of the global energy situation and using his energy industry experience, Dr. Ludwig has become an ardent proponent of alternative energy sources and sustainable systems. He was the “founding father” of WCC & REP, having acted as the Chairman since the project’s inception in 2001 and was the force behind the initial concept engineering. Dr. Ludwig also has led the effort in the development of the education component of the project that will be made available to middle school, high school and college students via the internet. Also included in the design is a real time 24/7 public internet site that measures energy, environmental, financial and operational performance with an integrated weather station vs. status quo for the entire campus.
When Wayne Energy Corporation (WEC) was created Dr. Ludwig was appointed as its Treasurer and Director, a position which enabled the Township of Wayne and the Board of Education to continue to benefit from his expertise.
Dr. Ludwig is retired and has served as a volunteer on WCC & REP and WEC since inception. He has a BS in Engineering, MBA in Finance and Ph.D. in Management.
