With a strong interest in the environment from an early age, combined with extensive travel and diverse fields of endeavor led Andrew to a permaculture design course in 1999 and ever expanding opportunities to design, teach and promote sustainable solutions. Fifteen years of experience in humanitarian aid and development reflects a commitment to working to help people help themselves. His experience includes work with non-governmental and citizen based organizations including CARE International, the International Rescue Committee, Counterpart International and SurfAid International. He has undertaken consultancies on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Macedonia and Albania , and with the United Nations Environment Program most recently in Indonesia in a post-tsunami recovery context.
Appreciation of diverse landscapes, cultures, music, and poetry and a love of adventure and learning are some of the ingredients that have contributed to Andrew’s enjoyment of the work he does.
